Why we're building Malta Living
Malta Living is a free life simulator set in Malta, in your browser, with no download. You can read how it plays in our guide to the game. This page is about why we make it.
A second life, in Malta
Malta Living lets you live a second, virtual life in Malta. Arrive as a tourist, on a work permit or as a local, find a flat, get a job, learn a few Maltese phrases and make friends, all on Malta time. Whether you've lived here for years, have just arrived, or have never been, there's a life on the island waiting for you.
Real businesses in a virtual world
The places in Malta Living carry their real names, and we want the island's businesses to be part of the virtual world too: the café you know, the shop down the road, the club everyone talks about. Players can visit them in the game, and businesses can reach players there, on a billboard by the road or in Bonġu!, the island's news on your phone.
Fun first
Above everything, it's a game. Throw a party, take the bus to the beach, play Bixkla against a friend, decorate your flat, try your luck at the Lottery House with game euros. If it isn't fun, we change it.
Malta's multicultural life
Malta is Maltese, and it is also home to people from all over the world, and the game celebrates both. You can arrive in any of the three ways people really do, hear Maltese words alongside English, and meet players from everywhere. The glossary explains the local words you'll meet.
How we write this blog
Every post here is written by the Malta Living team. Players don't post on the blog: ideas, bugs and discussion live on the community site, where every post has its own thread.
- What we say about the game is checked in the game. Every price, time and rule in a post was checked against the game itself on the day the post was written or updated. If the game changes, we update the post and its "Updated" date.
- What we say about the island has a source. Facts about the real island link to where they come from, usually the official site. We never give legal or financial advice: for permits, rent or tax, go to the official source.
- The pictures are our own. Every screenshot is from the game. Where a screenshot showed a player's username, we blurred it.
- Game money is game money. Euros in Malta Living are game euros. Nothing in the game can be cashed out, and it's for players aged 18 and over.
