Sell big shares to other players, or buy theirs, in Malta Living
Big shares just got a market. In Malta Living, the free life sim you play in your browser, you can now sell shares to other players at your own price, or buy theirs, instead of only trading with the house. It's the second step of Big shares, the hotel in Sliema and the restaurant at Spinola Bay cut into 1,000 shares each, where the biggest holder with 250 or more runs the place.

Listing your shares
Open a business you hold shares in, tap Sell, then List for players. Pick how many with the chips, then a price: six chips from 80% to 150% of the house's price, so at the restaurant anything from €240 to €450 a share. The page says what you'd get, less the 1% fee. A listing lasts 7 days.
Listed shares leave your holding while they're on the market. They still count in your worth, but they don't earn at 18:00 and don't count towards running the place until they're sold or come back. You can take a listing off at any time, and after 7 days it comes back by itself.
Buying from players
Open a business, tap From players, and the listings show cheapest first, with who's selling and how many. The cheapest is picked for you. Pick how many and tap Buy: you can take part of a listing or all of it, up to the 400 a single account can hold. The house still sells at its fixed price, so sometimes a player's listing is cheaper and sometimes the house is.
Buying from a player is paid in earned euros only. Bought euros can't move between players, and that holds here too. The seller gets the price less a 1% fee, and if they'd paid for those shares with bought euros, that part comes back to them as bought. So shares can't be used to turn bought euros into ones you can send.
Getting past whoever runs it
Before, the only way to the top of the ladder was the house's shares. Now a holder who wants out can sell straight to someone who wants in, and that can change who runs the place. Pass the biggest holder at 250 or more and it's yours, with the same gold YOU RUN IT moment.
Fair trades
A sale between two accounts that share a phone, a network or an email waits for a quick check by the team, as invites do. The buyer's money and the shares are held, and nobody else can buy from that listing meanwhile. The team completes it or refunds it, and if nobody has checked it in 7 days, it's refunded both ways by itself.
New to investing in the game? The Invest app guide shows where everything is, businesses, property and cabs covers the rest, and the Malta life simulator guide covers the whole island. Real markets work on the same idea: a price set by whoever's willing to sell and buy (Wikipedia: secondary market).
Questions people ask
Can I sell to the house instead?
Yes. Sell → Back to the house buys your shares at once for 85% of what you paid. Listing for players can get you more, but only if someone buys.
Why can't I pay with bought euros?
Buying from a player sends money to them, and bought euros can't be sent to other players anywhere in the game. Your bought euros still buy shares from the house.
Do listed shares earn?
No. They earn again once they come back to you, and the buyer earns from the first 18:00 after they buy.
What happens to a sale that's held?
The team checks it. If nobody does within 7 days, the buyer gets their money back and the shares go back on the listing, or to the seller if the listing has ended.
