Back Il-Magħluq: Marsaxlokk's waterfront, built by players
The next place players build together is the Marsaxlokk waterfront. In Malta Living, the fenced plot by the fish market is Il-Magħluq, the harbour's inner bay, and from Tuesday 3 November at 18:30 you can back its build with game euros. It is the second build after the Msida Skatepark, smaller and quicker: €25,000 to raise, and it opens on Sunday 22 November at 10:00, market morning.

What you're backing
Marsaxlokk's harbour is full of luzzus, the painted fishing boats with an eye on the bow. The build turns the old quay into a waterfront you can walk, from the boats by the market to the village square. The island's own plan for Il-Magħluq is a regeneration of the same stretch (MaltaToday); in the game it's built with players' backing.
Once it opens you can stroll the front, buy fish from the market (it fills you up), sit by the luzzus, or have a ftira and a coffee by the boats. Two locals turn up as it opens: Ċensu, a fisherman mending his net, and Rita at the fish stall.
How backing works
Tap the site's pin by Marsaxlokk, or open Invest → Builds on your phone. Until Tuesday 3 November at 18:30 its card says when backing opens and takes nothing. From then:
- Put in €100 to €1,250. That top figure is 5% of the €25,000 target, the most one account can back.
- Take it all back any time before it opens. You get every cent back, and lose your founder spot.
- It opens on the date whether or not it's fully backed. The part nobody backs stays with the game; you keep exactly your share.
- Lay a €50 brick with your name in the site wall, or carry bricks at the site once a day for a small wage.
It's game euros only. It isn't a real investment and pays nothing outside the game.
What it pays
From the evening it opens, the waterfront's takings are shared every day at 18:00, each share by its part of the €25,000. On a quiet day €500 pays about €3.57; on a busy day, with more players visiting, up to about €4.97. That's the same rule as every other build, and the same payday as the businesses and cabs in life sim investing. After it opens you can sell a share back at the Bank for 90% of what you put in.
What founders get
Everyone who backs it is a founder:
- The first hour. On Sunday 22 November, from 10:00 to 11:00, only founders can go in. Everyone else from 11:00.
- A ftira and a coffee by the boats, on the house. Your first one there is free, once, within 7 days of opening, so it waits for you if you're not on that morning.
- Your name on the founders' wall, in the order people backed, never the amounts. You can keep it off and still be a founder.
- The Founder chip on your profile.
- A note on your phone the moment it opens.
Watch it go up
The site builds on the map in four stages, on fixed days or sooner if it's backed faster: barriers from 3 November, paving from 8 November, benches and lamps from 13 November, and moorings with the first luzzu from 18 November. A crane with gold bands means the build is taking backers. On opening day the barriers come down: a paved front, lamps that light up after dark, the boats, and the fish stall.
If you're new, the Malta life simulator guide explains the basics, and earning money in your first days is the quickest way to your first €100. The prices around Marsaxlokk follow the game's real places and prices. Play Malta Living free and find Il-Magħluq on the map, south of the airport.
