Need a breather? Short break pauses the Casino and betting
Some nights in the Casino go badly, and the next spin feels like the one that puts it right. A short break from the Casino, the Lottery House and MaltaBet is for that moment: one tap, and every stake there closes for you until the time runs out. Malta Living is a free life sim you play in your browser, and the euros in it are game euros, never real money. We still think a game that lets you lose them should also let you stop.

What closes, and what stays open
A Short break closes the Casino's tables, slots, quick bets and Count cards; the Lottery House's slips and scratch cards; and MaltaBet's slips and Bet a friend. Games in the Games app aren't affected.
You can still walk into the Casino and the Lottery House, see who's there, have a drink, sit on the terrace and work a croupier or bar shift. Where the tables were, one calm card counts down the time left and says when they open again. Your friends never see that you're on a break.
What's already in play finishes as normal. An open blackjack hand, a lottery slip, a MaltaBet slip and a bet a friend took up all settle and pay.
Three lengths, and one rule
Pick 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. Each tile shows the exact end, in Malta time, worked out on the server. Then a confirm step states the one hard rule before anything starts: you can't end it early. Not you, not the team, not support. You can only make it longer, from Settings or from the card, and only to a length that ends later.
That is on purpose. The first person to ask for an early end would say it was a mistake, and then a break would mean nothing. The confirm step is where a mis-tap gets caught.
When it's offered
We never push it. When today's losses cross €500 or €1,000, a cream pop-up asks once, after a result and before the next bet, never mid-hand. If a day ended €1,000 or more down, one quiet row waits in your phone the next morning at 09:00, with no push and no sound. At most one offer a day, and after two "Not now"s, nothing for a week. The small €200 nudge stays as it was.
Same for everyone, and quiet at the end
The server holds the break, so it works the same on every phone and an old version of the game gets the same answer. It's kept on your account: a new life doesn't end it. It applies to everyone, moderators and the team included.
When it ends, nothing pings you. The next time you open the Casino or the Lottery House, one line says "Your Short break is over." and the tables are back.
The team only sees counts: breaks started this week by length and where they started, and how many are running. No names.

Questions people ask
Can I end a Short break early in Malta Living?
No. Nobody can, not you, the team or support. You can make it longer: Settings, then Short break, then Make it longer.
Can my friends see that I'm on a Short break?
No. You can still sit with them and watch. If they invite you to a table, you only see that the tables are closed for you.
Does a Short break stop my slips and tickets from paying?
No. Anything you bought before it starts still draws and pays into your wallet as usual.
Does it end when I start a new life?
No. It's kept against your account, not your life or your device.
