House parties and visits: friends over in Malta Living

By · Updated

Your home in Malta Living isn't just somewhere to sleep. Malta Living is a free, Sims-like life sim set in real Malta that runs in your browser with no download, and it's online, so the people you meet can come round. If you've been looking for a house party game online, this is how ours works: invite a friend over for a film on the sofa, or throw a party and fill the place for half an hour.

Hosting a party in Malta Living: a guest in the family home's living room, and the host's panel saying the party's on, then Party chat, Dance, Dance-off and Guests

Visiting a friend's home

You can visit from someone's profile, from your chat with them (🚪 Visit them), from My people, or by tapping a house on the map. You travel there like anywhere else, then walk in at their door.

Only people you know can knock: someone you've met in the game, someone in your contacts, someone you've messaged, or a partner or family member. A stranger with your link sees your door and can message you, but can't knock. When someone knocks, you choose Let them in or Not now. Switch on Open house and the people you know walk straight in, even while you're out.

To have someone round, tap 🏠 Invite over in your chat with them or share your home's link. That hosts for 30 minutes, so friends can still knock while you're off in WhatsApp.

What guests can do inside

A visit is the host's real home, in 3D, with their walls, furniture and even their cars on the drive. Tap their sofa, TV, loo or tub and its card opens right there.

  • Free for guests: the sofa, the TV, the games, music, the piano and the toilet. None of it costs the host anything.
  • Ask first: the kitchen, the bath and the bed are locked to start with. Tap a 🔒 card and the host can say yes with one tap. Cooking uses food from the host's fridge.
  • Together: two people using the same thing at once both get extra Fun.
  • ✨ Admire a piece you like (the host hears about it), and take a 📸 group photo.

Hosts see who came round in the Visitors tab of the Homes app. When it's time for bed, Ask everyone to leave ends every visit at once.

How to host a party in this life sim

Tap 🎉 in your home's panel to throw a party: a small one for a few friends, or a big one once you own speakers or a sound system.

When it starts, your friends are told, your map pin says "🎉 Party's on", and they can walk straight in. Other people you know get the party's card in their chat, up to your 50 closest. Tap Invite people to send it further: search anyone, tap who's online, pick your groups and clubs, add a Gossip post if you like, and send once. Each person gets the party's card in their chat with a big Come over. You choose who else may invite: people you know, anyone, or only you.

What happens at a party

A party has its moments: drinks on the house, dancing, a dance-off, a toast where everyone raises a glass, and a group photo at the end, ready to share. There's a party chat for everyone there, and guests can grab a drink whenever they like.

Everyone who came leaves with more Fun and Social, and closer to the host. The more people come, the better it gets for everyone, and a host who fills the room earns the 🎉 Host badge.

Before and after the party

A good party starts with a home worth showing off: see our guide to furnishing your home in Buy mode. Parties are also the easiest way to turn people you've met into friends, which our guide to clubs, friends and gossip in a multiplayer life sim covers. If the house gets quiet, head to Paceville, the nightlife district in the St Julian's area that Visit Malta calls Malta's main nightlife area, with our Paceville nightlife guide. New here? Questions people ask

How do you throw a party in Malta Living?

Tap 🎉 in your home's panel and pick a small party or a big one (a big one needs speakers or a sound system at home). Your friends are told it's on, and Invite people sends the party's card to anyone else.

Can strangers come to your house in Malta Living?

Only people you know can knock or walk in on a normal visit. A stranger with your link can see your door and message you. Anyone you invite to a party with Invite people can walk in while it's on.

Does it cost the host anything when friends visit?

No. Guests can use the sofa, the TV, the games, music, the piano and the toilet for free. The one exception is cooking, which uses food from the host's fridge once the host opens the kitchen to guests.
