Just opened: how new places arrive in Malta Living
When new places open in the game, they shouldn't slip in quietly. Until now a place that opened just appeared in Get around, and you'd find it by luck. With 38 places on their way to the bigger map, that wasn't good enough, so every opening now gets its day.

On the map
For 7 days after a place opens, its pin wears a gold ring and a small New badge, and it always keeps its name, even when the map is busy and other names give way. At most three pins wear the ring at once, the newest, so the map never turns into a field of gold. A 🎀 chip appears next to Ads and Homes only while something is new. Tap it for the list, newest first, with when each opened.
The next time you look at the map after a place opens, you get one card: "The Eden is open", what it is, and Take me there. If you've been away and several opened, it's one "While you were away" card with all of them, never a pile of pop-ups. You never get one on your very first look at the game.
In Get around
Get around now starts with Home, on its own button at the top, because getting home is the trip people make most. Under the search there's a Just opened row of cards, newest first. Tap one to plan the trip. The list below it is the same as ever.
One note, on the day
When places open, everyone with notes on gets one phone note on the day, naming every place that opened together. It follows your "Rent, bills and work" setting, waits for 09:00 in quiet hours and counts towards the four notes a day, like every other note. If you backed a place's build, your note says "The place you backed is open" instead, so you never get two. You can read how notes work in your phone's apps.
Tell me when it opens
Every coming-soon place on the map has a card that says what it will be and which drop opens it. Those are the 38 places coming to Malta Living. Now each card also has 🔔 Tell me when it opens. Tap it, and on opening day the place is in your Updates too, whether or not you get phone notes. You can tap it again to change your mind.
Why bother?
A new place is only worth building if people find it. The opening moment is how the bigger map turns from building sites into places, one drop at a time. Behind the scenes, the game remembers the moment each place opens, from whichever way it opened, and announces it once. A place that closes for a fix and opens again isn't announced twice. Play Malta Living free and look for the gold rings. The first places it's waiting for are on the new coasts, from Dingli to the Blue Grotto. New here? Start with what Malta Living is.
Questions people ask
How long does a place stay "just opened"?
Seven days from the moment it opens. After that the ring and the New badge go, and it's an ordinary place on the map and in Get around.
Will I get a notification for every new place?
One note when places open, naming all of them if several open together, and only if your "Rent, bills and work" notes are on. Quiet hours and the four-a-day limit apply.
What does "Tell me when it opens" do?
It puts the place in your Updates on opening day, even if you don't use phone notes. It only works on places still coming soon.
Why do I see a "While you were away" card?
Several places opened since you last looked at the map. One card lists them all, instead of one pop-up each.
