The sky penthouse at Pender Place, and luxury furniture
By The Malta Living team · Updated
Every life sim needs something to aim for. In Malta Living it used to be the villa in Mellieħa. Since 21 October it's a luxury penthouse at the top of Pender Place in St Julian's, the towers that look down on Paceville and the bay. It's the biggest home in the game, and anyone can rent it. Here's what it is, what it costs, and the luxury furniture that came with it.

The sky penthouse
Pender Place is a real development in St Julian's. In the game, its top floor is the sky penthouse:
- three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining room and a lounge;
- white marble floors and glass in brass frames, with the sea and the towers far below;
- a sky terrace the full width of the flat;
- an underground parking bay for your cars.
It comes with the basics, as every new home does. The rest is yours to choose.
What it costs
- Rent: €2,500 a week, with a week's deposit and the agent's fee, as with the other big rentals.
- Buy: €750,000. Non-residents can buy it too, because it's in a Special Designated Area, where the island's usual permit rules for foreign buyers don't apply.
- Bills: higher than a flat's, as you'd expect for the size.
Anyone can rent it: a tourist on a lucky run, a permit holder with a good job, a local with a business that pays. You don't need to own anything first. If you're working your way up, renting in Sliema explains the ladder of homes, from a room in Żurrieq to here, and how a loan to own works. Owners can let it out once they've moved on, as with any home (investing in property).
Luxury furniture in two finishes
A home like this needs furniture to match. Buy's Luxury tab now has thirteen pieces, from a dining chair (€300) to a sofa (€2,800): a king bed, a freestanding bath, sofas and armchairs, a dining table, a coffee table, a rug, a sideboard, a floor lamp and a low shelf.
Each comes in two finishes, picked on its card as you place it, at the same price:
- Marble & Brass: white stone, warm metal.
- Smoked Oak: dark wood, soft fabric.
You can change a piece's finish later, free, like any colour. Each luxury piece does what its plain twin does, only better: a deeper sleep, a better soak, a sofa that restores more. The whole set comes to about €16,000. Everything about placing, turning and colouring is in Buy mode.
The villa's pool, now for swimming
The villa in Mellieħa had a pool you could only look at. Now its panel has 🏊 Swim in your pool, 🛟 Just float and 🦶 Feet in the water. Swim with friends and you each gain Social. Its garden has 🍋 Tend the garden, once a day, for three lemons and a glass of fresh lemonade, and ✨ Look at the stars after dark. Not after too many drinks, though: then it's feet in the water. Hosting there is in house parties and visits.
What's next
The luxury plan carries on: more big homes, a jetty, sunbathing and a barbecue for friends. Each will get its own post here when it's live.
