MaltaBet: Malta League Night and betting a friend, with game euros

Malta loves its football, from the local league to the Premier League on every bar's screen. In Malta Living that turns into Malta League Night: eight made-up matches between real Maltese clubs, every night, drawn by the game at 21:00. It lives in its own app, MaltaBet, and it is played only with game euros, which can never be cashed out. Here's how it works, and the limits we built in.
A slip in four taps
Open ⚽ MaltaBet on your phone:
- Pick a match and tap the odds for a home win, a draw or an away win.
- Add more matches if you like: the odds multiply, and every pick has to be right.
- Pick a chip, €1 to €100.
- Tap Place slip.
The slip shows what it wins at your chip before you place it, and it all fits on one screen. Tomorrow's matches are open all day; betting on tonight's closes at 20:55. At 21:00 the game draws the scores and pays winning slips straight away. 🧾 Slips shows yours, with Share.
The limits
We set these on purpose, and the server checks every one:
- 10 slips a night.
- Odds count up to ×100 on a slip, and a slip wins €3,000 at most.
- €1 to €100 a slip.
- Earned euros only. MaltaBet, like the Casino and the Lottery House, takes only euros you earned playing. Euros you bought are for things in the game.
- 18+, and just for fun. Game money can't be cashed out, and nothing here pays out in real money.
We also keep an eye on winnings across the island, so a lucky streak never breaks the game's economy for everyone else.
Bet a friend
The best part is betting against someone you know. Put one pick on the slip and tap 👯 vs a friend:
- choose your side, then a friend: one of your people, an @username, or a 🔗 link for anyone;
- pick what you each put in, €5 to €100; the form shows what can happen before you send;
- your stake is held when you send.
Your friend picks another side or says no. At 21:00, the side that comes up takes the whole pot. If neither does, you both get yours back.
There's no house cut on bets between players, in MaltaBet or in Festa Fight's chip matches: the winner takes everything both of you put in. It's a friendly bet, so the game doesn't take a slice. More on playing friends is in the Games guide, and on finding your people in clubs, friends and Gossip.
The clubs
The matches use the names of real Maltese clubs, from Floriana and Birkirkara to Żabbar St Patrick, the same names you'd find in Maltese football. The fixtures and scores are made up, new every night. No logos and no real results.
Why it's its own app
MaltaBet used to sit inside Games. We gave it an app of its own so Games is just games, and betting is always somewhere you choose to go. The two still share one thing: a bet a friend sends you in chat says to pick your side in MaltaBet.
