Step aboard at home: your boat at your jetty in Malta Living

By

A boat you can only enjoy at the marina is half a boat. Now Malta Living has a yacht at home in a life sim that treats your jetty as part of the house: if your boat is moored at the bottom of your garden, you can step aboard and unwind without going anywhere.

Aboard Bella, a superyacht at a home jetty, on a phone: four things to do on deck (sunbathe, a dip off the back, a drink from the crew, the jacuzzi), Invite who's visiting and Back to the garden

Which homes have a jetty

Three seafront homes have a jetty where one of your boats can moor: the mansions in Ta' Xbiex, the apartments at Tigné Point and the penthouses at Portomaso. Moving her there is free (the skipper takes her round) and you do it from Cars, under Boats. Ta' Xbiex sits on Msida Creek, one of the island's busiest yacht harbours, so a boat at the bottom of the garden is very much the local look (Visit Malta).

If you live somewhere without one, nothing changes at home: your boat's card in Cars says she stays at her berth, and gives you a ride there to step aboard instead.

Step aboard

With a boat at your jetty, Step aboard is the first tile in your home's panel, named after her. Tapping her in the garden does the same. You're on her deck, and what there is to do depends on the boat:

  • Superyacht: sunbathe on the pads, a dip off the back, a drink from the crew, and the jacuzzi.
  • Motor yacht: the sun pad, a dip, and a drink at the table.
  • Sailboat: lie on the bow, a dip, and sit in the cockpit.
  • RIB or luzzu: sit aboard, and a dip.

Each one takes 45 to 90 seconds and gives Fun, plus Energy, Hygiene or Social, once a day. It's your boat, so nothing aboard costs a cent. While you're doing it, small moments come along every 15 seconds or so: a breeze off the creek, the crew with an iced towel, a jet ski going by. At night the dip becomes a night swim.

Friends aboard

If friends are visiting your home, Invite who's visiting lists them. One tap asks them, and they get a pop-up to step aboard. Only people at your home can be asked, because it's a walk down the garden, not a trip. On a superyacht there's one more thing to do together: a round for everyone, +6 Social each, once a day.

If you share a home, your housemates can step aboard any time, even while you're out, and they can invite people too. A guest is only ever aboard while one of the house is. When the last of you goes ashore, the guests go too, and they're told why. Nothing is lost: whatever they were doing finishes and counts. Taking her out on a trip puts everyone else ashore first.

Want to share the house as well as the boat? See housemates at the palazzo. For buying one in the first place, start with boats and yachts, and for the deck at the marina, aboard at her berth.
