A walk with a view in Malta Living
Walking routes in Malta Living now give you a little more to consider before setting off. A walk still costs no euros. Get around shows its complete Energy cost before Go, including any August sun, supported uphill approach or steps short cut. The same cost appears when you plan a walk from a place, head home or follow an invite.
It is another small choice in the Malta life simulator: spend some Energy to get somewhere, choose the route you prefer, then watch your character make the journey across the existing map. There is no walking mini-game and no extra progress sheet covering the scene.

Read the cost before you leave
An ordinary walk uses the existing base of one Energy per kilometre. In August, from 11:00 up to 17:00 on Malta's clock, sun adds half an Energy per kilometre, capped at four extra Energy. A supported uphill approach adds two Energy. All walking additions together are capped at six.
The higher areas are deliberately a small game classification: Upper Barrakka, the Citadel and the supported Rabat approaches. A journey downhill, or between places already on the same higher ground, does not get that uphill addition. The game does not pretend to calculate every real pavement's slope.
The quote gives you the whole cost and a short explanation. Low Energy brings a warning, so you can compare another way before leaving. Walking remains the free travel option; your ordinary needs and the game's existing exhaustion rules still apply. See the phone guide for Get around and the other apps you can use along the way.
Seafront or main streets
From 21:00 until 05:00, supported walks between the Sliema promenade and the St Julian's destinations offer two routes. Seafront keeps the current walking time. Main streets takes four seconds longer. Both display their total time and Energy before you choose.
The seafront note simply says it is quiet after dark. Choosing it does not roll for theft, injury or a hidden punishment. These are choices inside the game, rather than advice about real streets. Other walks keep their ordinary route.
Take the steps, find a view
The supported daytime Valletta walk between Upper Barrakka and St Paul's offers a steps short cut when it can save two seconds. It costs one more Energy and never takes less than three seconds. Pick the route beside the existing Go button, then set off as usual.
Complete the steps route for the first time and you discover a hidden harbour view. It stays discovered for your account. There is no cash prize, item or repeatable need reward; the discovery is a reason to explore. Later walks can still use the quicker route. A rejected or interrupted journey never grants the discovery.
The setting draws on a real harbour landscape. Parks in Malta describes Upper Barrakka's views over the Grand Harbour and Vittoriosa. The particular short cut and its discovery are game rules.
The journey keeps its place
Reloading restores your booked route and its remaining time. The Energy is taken once, and finishing while you are away still settles the journey. If an unbooked quote changes at a time boundary, check the updated journey before trying again.
Another island still needs the existing ferry. Get around directs you to the harbour using the current boat choices. Your own wheels keep their normal travel rules too. The five-second parking walk has its own fixed cost; August sun and hills do not get added to it.

Questions people ask
When does August sun add walking Energy?
Only for ordinary walks booked in August between 11:00 inclusive and 17:00 exclusive on Malta's clock. The quote includes the addition before you leave.
Does choosing the night seafront risk losing money?
No. Neither supported night walking route has a crime, injury or money-loss roll. Main streets takes four seconds longer.
