Meet up with friends in one tap in Malta Living

By

The best nights in a life sim start with "where are you?". In Malta Living, the free life sim you play in your browser, it's now one tap to meet up with friends: say where you are, and everyone in the chat gets a card that takes them there. Nobody has to work out the bus, the fare or the way. New here? Start with our guide to the Malta life simulator.

A group chat on a phone: a card that says Meet me at Tokyo Club, from your friend, who's there now, and a big green Go there with the fare

Meet here sends a card

In a group or a small club, tap 📍 Meet here over the message box. Your friends don't just see a place name any more. They get a card with the place, who sent it, and who from the chat is there now or already on the way. At home, the same tap sends your home ("Come over to mine"), and 🏠 Invite over in a one-to-one chat does the same.

Go there, in one tap

The card has one big button: 🚶 Go there, with the fare on it when there is one. One tap and you're off, the same way Get around would pick before you choose. That means a walk for a short hop, and otherwise the bus, an eCab or your own car. If your car is parked for the night after a drink, it's an eCab. Want to choose yourself? Other ways opens Get around on that place.

Short of the fare? The card says so and offers a free walk, with how many minutes it takes on the button, so nobody gets a surprise halfway across Sliema.

When you can't go yet

The card never just fails. It says plainly why you can't go right now:

  • On a shift, or busy with something: tap ⏰ Join after. The trip waits in your queue and sets off the moment you're free.
  • Asleep: the card waits for you. Go there is there when you wake up.
  • Held at the police lock-up: you can't make it, and the card shows your friends you're held, so nobody waits for you.
  • A friend's home that's private: if they're out, or you don't know each other yet, the card says so.

Parties and club meet-ups too

A house party card now goes in one tap as well: Go there, and you walk straight in. A club's weekly meet-up does the same at the club's usual spot. Your clubs and friends are all in Messages; our guide to friends, clubs and Gossip shows how they work.

Why we built it

Players told us that when they said "come to Hugo's" in a group, half the group never arrived: they didn't know how to get there, or what it cost. Malta is small, and its real bus network, Malta Public Transport, is how most people get about, so the game uses the same choices. Now the hard part is done for you, and the only question is whether you're coming. Start playing and send your first Meet here tonight.

Questions people ask

Does Go there cost anything extra?

No. It's the same trip you'd take from Get around, at the same fare: a walk is free, the bus and an eCab cost what they always do.

What if my friend has moved on by the time I arrive?

The card shows who's there now and who's on the way, and it updates when you open the chat again. Send your own Meet here to pull everyone to where you are.

Can I choose the bus instead of an eCab?

Yes. Tap Other ways on the card, and Get around opens on that place with every way to get there.
